How are you doing? Hope your summer holidays were awesome? Mine was been…eventful in a good way.

 Anyways, I want to sharply talk about the first “liquid” lipsticks I ever bought. Before God granted us the grace to be able to purchase Limecrime and ABH, there was the Sleek Studio Flash ‘a’ pout. Now, these matte lipsticks were not liquid, its’ a lot thicker and goes on like paint, I mean these bad boys are super opaque and stay put for hours.

Packaging: the lipstains came in a plastic tube with a black screw-on cap. Now the fantastic part was that there was a black button on the top of the cap that lit an LED light within the cap of the applicator so that you could conveniently touch up your lippie even in dim lit places, genius yes? Lol. This thing amused me for the longest time. The lipstains also has a mirror at one of the sides. So convenient.

Texture: the only way to describe the consistency of these products is that it is like a thick creamy moussey product. It is not a liquid that dries to matte, it applies matte and stays that way for hours unless you eat something very oily. The downside to this however is that it is quite drying.

Pigmentation: these lipstains are not playing with you. The colours are so opaque and bold. I absolutely love the colour pay off and to know that this is coming from a Nigerian brand is quite amazing. I have four colours: Naivety is a bright bold pink that is identical to Limecrime’s Pink Velvet (I wrote a post comparing the two here); Revolution is also a bright colour, a true orange which is unlike any lip color I own; Siren is a fire truck red with strong pink undertones and; Forbidden is a brick red that just looks fantastic on all skintones.

These were my holy grail lippies at some point and I still reach for them from time to time when I want a lip that will pop and won’t budge through the day. However, they can be hard to blend with other colours except with a lip brush and they can also be drying. I do like them a lot still and I know Sleek Studio has brought out more shades since I purchased these about 2 years ago (I have my eyes on a gorgeous nude shade called Bark). When I purchased these, there were just 1500 naira on Konga.com but when I checked a stand at the Abuja makeup fair some weeks ago, they are now over 2500 naira.
