I can’t believe I am writing this blog-post. If you told me in January last year that I would be letting go of all Patsy and I have built on this blog, I would have laughed in your face. Yet, here we are, this is going to be my last post on blushesndbrushes.com.

Most days last year, I spent an obscene amount of time on Instagram. Instagram is basically a vortex and if you aren’t careful, you will find yourself spending hours on it doing nothing productive. This year however, I have tried to have more self-control and I have found some pretty amazing beauty and lifestyle content creators that I love and learn from.

As at September this year, I turned 5 years old as a professional makeup artist. I can not even believe all this time has passed, time has flown by. Over time, I have definitely grown as an artist, business owner and creator so I will be sharing a few tips to help makeup artists and enthusiasts in their journey.

Hey guys, it's been so long yeah? I didn't feel like blogging for a few weeks, then I had to prepare for my exams so writing a blog post was secondary. I did miss writing though.

So I really love this picture of me. Why? Because all my flaws are showing.

I have taken long to write the part 2 to this post because I honestly didn't know what to write. I have been trying to pick and choose the right words to use but I don't have them. So I am just going to be as honest as I was in my last post and hopefully, it all makes sense at the end.

This post will be showing how I unlearned how to hate myself.

Some days ago I revealed in a blog post how I grew to hate myself. Since writing that post, I have gotten alot of messages and some phone calls encouraging me and giving me the most positive feedback I could have ever imagined. For that, I say thank you.

Some days ago, I saw a post where a blogger wrote about her "flaws" that she has learned to love. That inspired me to want to do a similar post from a different angle. Today, I will be talking about how society taught me to hate myself.

I recently lost a dear family friend, someone I looked up to as a spiritual father. Honestly, it shook me a little. It got me thinking, wondering what the point of this life was at all.

But I was reminded that death is good sometimes.

If you ever learn anything from me, it should be the importance of eating well. You cannot come and go and die because of anything in this world.

When life gives me lemons, I slice it and use it to marinate chicken with some rosemary, salt and black pepper. That's my philosophy.

So when law school tried to kill me with stress.  my friends and I went to a cool Chinese restaurant here in Yola.

I have heard that it is popular belief that the dinner organized by law school is some form of "initiation" into a "cult".

Yes we wear black and walk in in a single file while wearing long faces. Yes we eat quietly and solemnly. Yes no one else is invited. But trust me, it is not an initiation 😁

Happy New Year! Don't roll your eyes at me, it's still January (definitely the longest month I have ever experienced) so technically I can still say happy new year 😏

I have embarked on another phase of my life: a one year program at the Nigerian Law School, Yola campus. The successful completion of this program will confer me with the title of 'Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria'. After about 5 weeks of the brand new experience, here is what I have learnt so far.

This post is not only for my natural hair girls! This post is for everyone who has hair and wants that hair to look lush and nice, this post is also for anyone that doesn't want all their hair to break off after the season is over.

Thank you for letting God use you as His light to bring out the God-colors in the world. You are an inspiration to so many through your walk with Christ, myself included.



Thank you for being so talented with your hands. Now I don't need no other hair stylist, tailor, decorator, event organizer, etc.

Most days, I prefer the comfort of my bed and a good book to physical interaction with people but every once in a while, I try to be a social butterfly. The Abuja makeup fair is an event I look forward to attending annually.
This was the second makeup fair I attended. It held at Emerald Park, Area 3, Abuja on Saturday 19th August 2017.

I want to talk about a sensitive topic today and that's loving yourself. Specifically about loving your face and about going out bare-faced.

Hello guys! Happy belated Easter!
I know this post seems pointless since the holidays have passed but I waited till now so we can all get a chance to reflect on the work Christ did on the cross in retrospect. So what does Easter mean to me?

Recently, I was feeling discontent with a lot of things. Mostly, I was discontent with how 'little' progress or popularity I have gained after being a makeup artist for about four(4) years now. In my mind, I should have tons of social media followers and several beauty brand affiliations. I was feeling sad and I even started to feel discouraged and restless. The ultimate question was on my mind, am I not enough? Am I not good enough? So let's talk about discontentment.
