What Easter means to me
Hello guys! Happy belated Easter!
I know this post seems pointless since the holidays have passed but I waited till now so we can all get a chance to reflect on the work Christ did on the cross in retrospect. So what does Easter mean to me?
Over the last couple of months, I have been uncovering my identity in Christ, as a woman specifically and as a child of God generally. In fact, a certain verse of the bible keeps popping up everywhere for me, Romans 8:11. It says " And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the death lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you." This message basically sums up my identity as a Christian, the Spirit that resides in me is the same one that rose Jesus from the dead, and so I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength.
The key days during the Easter weekend are Good Friday- the day Jesus died and Easter Sunday- the day He rose from the dead. He had to die so He can rise so both occurrences are of great significance to me.
Just take a look at Isaiah 53 for me. The entire chapter explains the purpose of Jesus' ministry, death and resurrection. Jesus was wounded for my sins, beaten for my evil, I am healed by the punishment He suffered and made whole by the blows He received. God made the punishment fall on Him, the punishment that I deserve for my sins. It was God's will that He should suffer and His death should bring forgiveness and that through Him, my purpose will succeed. And His resurrection signifies His victory over death.
For His sake, God forgives me.
So Easter to me is the perfect end to greatest love story ever known. A man I didn't know found me worth to die for. Even if I was the only sinner on earth, even before I was born, He was willing to give up his life so I can enjoy mine in full in Him. No greater love than this, that a man will lay down his life for his friends. He exercised the greatest love by dying for me and you. And the significance of His death is showed forth in the life of anyone who believes in Him and submits to His Lordship.
I don't know about you, but this realization deeply humbles me, this Christ's love.

See you in my next post. God bless
All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way. But the Lord made the punishment fall on Him, the punishment all of us deserved.

Hey Some. It's Jamike. Nice post. It was a great read.
ReplyDeleteI won't type a long comment, but to me... Easter means hope. That no matter who you are, what you did, where you're from.... God cares for you. And that if he can raise Jesus from the dead, then quite literally NOTHIMG is impossible for Him to do in MY life☺
Autocorrect changed your name from Some to Some😅😅
