Review: Restaurant Damada's Peking House

If you ever learn anything from me, it should be the importance of eating well. You cannot come and go and die because of anything in this world.

When life gives me lemons, I slice it and use it to marinate chicken with some rosemary, salt and black pepper. That's my philosophy.

So when law school tried to kill me with stress.  my friends and I went to a cool Chinese restaurant here in Yola.

I didn't have any high hopes the first time I went to Restaurant Damada. In fact, I expected it to be quite bad because how can a Chinese restaurant in Yola be any good? I was pleasantly surprised and I looked forward to coming back.

On my second visit, my friend ordered samosas and their pepper sauce as appetizers. Each "samosa"  cost N250 and it was a good size with lots of filling.

Now, this is not a samosa. It is a beef roll or minced meat pattie or something but it was definitely not a samosa. It was very well seasoned and tasted absolutely delicious though.

The pepper sauce is the Bomb. It is the right amount of spicy and very well seasoned.  It made everything taste better including the rice and I couldn't stop licking it 🙈 Don't forget to request it when placing an order

We ordered two medium plates of egg fried rice and vegetable fried rice, a plate of chicken vegetable sauce, a bottle of water and three glasses of Chapman.

I liked the sauce. Well seasoned and tasty, not greasy.

I preferred the egg fried rice (closely photographed). The vegetable fried rice was kind of bland on its own (pictured in the background).

Our order was enough to feed 4 moderately hungry young adults (three girls and one guy). It cost a little over N10,000 which is fair to me considering the drinks we got and appetizer. The food itself costs only about N7,000 which means less than N2,000 per person.

PROS

The food was well seasoned and tasted fresh

The meal was affordable in my opinion

The decor of the restaurant is nice

The staff were courteous

CONS

The food took awhile to be arrive

The location is kind of hard to find for a new person in town
