One step backward, three steps forward.

Hey hey hey...

How are you?... how was your weekend? Hope the week is going great already? Well mine is, well I’m making sure it is. Here's my #TuesdayTestimony.

I suffered a set back last week. It was something quite minor but it still was a setback anyway.

After I came back home last Monday (early by the way), I felt so tired I literally asked myself if I had carried blocks the day before. I decided to take a nap and by the time I woke up I was having a bad fever. I thought it wasn’t too serious but I was quite wrong. Long story short I was ill and I had to compulsorily take the rest of the week off to recover. With all the excitement I had about the skirt I was making, cause the fabric was so bold a beautiful and I don’t really have anything like that in my closet right now, plus I planned to finish with that and move on to something else before the week ran out, I was set up to be disappointed, especially because I would be out of town the following week and wouldn’t have all 5 working days at my disposal. Yet by Monday morning I was sitting by my sewing machine with pieces of material I hadn’t even finished cutting.

I wasn’t to happy about this to say the least, especially while I had to lay in bed feeling sick thinking about how everyone was going to be done by the end of the week and I'd just be starting.

I’m guessing a lot of us have suffered setbacks before. In fact I’ve suffered serious setbacks that have had me in tears and literally at the point of depression. Yes it can be that bad sometimes. We can have setbacks anywhere and at any point. Sometimes like that illness, it may be caused by something beyond our control and yet at other times it can be caused by something we could have otherwise avoided knowingly or even something we caused ourselves. Either way setbacks can be tough to deal with and hard to recover from.

However as children of God it can only be good news for us. Delay is not denial. I mean, we all know our setbacks ought to only set us up for greater comebacks. After all, all things are possible through Christ and though the righteous may fall seven times, yet he shall rise again.

It was with this spirit of encouragement I got up on Monday morning with a determination to finish and catch up with others. A skirt is pretty easy business so guess who was done by Tuesday morning? Oh yes I was. My skirt is as pretty as I imagined and I’m in the process of my next project. If I had sat feeling sad that everyone else was done while I was just starting I wouldn’t have finished in time, or I would have had a frustrating experience making that skirt, but none of that happened.

The point is, I don’t know what setbacks you might have had or if you’re having one right now, I’m just here to drop a word of encouragement to say don’t stay down. Get up, dust yourself and show the world what you’re made of... God-material. Nothing ought to keep you down. Ever.

Here’s to a week of achievements for all of us... cheers...

I’m this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

-John 16:33
