Review; LA girl glazed lip paints

So in case you were wondering if this was a follow up post for my haul, yes baby it is. I mean why do just one glazed lip paint when there's more right?.

So the LA girl glazed lip paints have been some of my favorite buys of recent. I have always been a lip gloss over lipstick kinda lady, and lip balms were just for moisturizing and nothing else. Lip glosses have always been there from primary school, I'm talking those ones in the bottle like containers with the rolling ball at the top... ring a bell?... lol...

Now here I am in the future falling in love with lip paints. Okay I have to admit when I first saw them i really thought nothing much of them. I was just like lets buy and see where this goes so I got them in

TEASE (a very bright rosy pink. It's not as tame as the packaging may make you think and its shimmery, though not noticeably)
TEMPT (a very deep purple. slightly darker than the packaging to me and also seems to have a major berry undertone. I like),
FEISTY (a orange with a reddish undertone that I think has still refused to favour me. I'd get back to you when I conquer it)
TANGO (by far my favourite so far. A medium peach). So about these baby girls yea?

PACKAGING: I am not so much a fan of their packaging. They come in a regular tubes that look like minimized toothpaste containers. On the other hand I like the fact that although the tubes are not transparent they are made to be seemingly identical to the gloss on the inside, which I think is kinda cool. The writing and covers re gold which is also kind of attractive.

APPLICATOR/APPLICATION: I very much dislike the applicator which is just a plastic slanted part of the package with a hole I think is too big. Thus direct application might be a problem depending on how you choose to use it. I'd much rather apply with a brush. It is also not sticky which is a great thing.

PIGMENTATION: It is highly pigmented and glossy. It dries out to a cool lacquered finish but stays glossy. It is nice and creamy and a little goes a long way, i.e. why I think the hole at the applicator is too big. It makes things get messy. It is still easy to take off despite the pigmentation which is a green light for me.

If you are not the touching up type you do not want these cause they need touch ups after every couple of hours.

I have had no problems with them bleeding and for me they are very easy to work with. They blend well and work with other lip products quite nicely. P.S you do not want to apply these on dry lips.

SCENT/FLAVOR: Peppermint, which of course is mostly nice on the nose but it gave me this tingly sensation after application which I rather do not appreciate. My clients complain about this also until I assure them it fades away. I still wish it could be done away with.

PRICE: they are very affordable ranging between N800-N1200 depending on where you purchase them. They can be found almost on any online beauty store and in the shops themselves.

Would i buy them again?

Yes I would and in fact I did. Which was how I landed with COY (a bright lilac/purple shade for bold people. I love love love)... so tell me, do you have any of them?, would you buy more?, why or why not?... see you soon.

THE HAUL...

Okay it's a very small haul and of course its greatly overdue so here goes... oh I hope y'all missed me too???, I missed you so much I forgot to say hi...

Errm... except if I am home I hardly do purchase makeup by myself, I mean Sike still lives and breathes so therefore why stress myself right?. The girl loves to shop online, I on the other hand love to shop in stores, I dearly hope I am not the only survivor of this rare specie of humans in our generation. So anyhow, I got a couple of things which includes;

The LA girl gel liner in very black
The Duo eyelash adhesive
The BH cosmetics 10 colour camouflage concealer palette and
The LA girl glazed lip paint in coy.

It would interest you to know that before this purchase I had never used gel liner before.
I mean everyone around me did but I was so comfortable with my liquid liner I just never tried... until now. Also I badly needed a new concealer palette. The one I had previously was just bleh cause it didn't fit will with WOC (women of colour) and guess what I look like and what country I reside in?, so yea that had to go...

REVIEW: Colourpop lippie stix in Ellarie

So before I knew colourpop cosmetics, I knew Ellarie. In fact, before I knew Ellarie as a person, I knew her eyes and that epic cupid’s bow the Lord blessed her with. This is because I follow Motives cosmetics on Instagram and she uses a ton of their products so Ellarie was regularly featured on their page.

When I heard that she did a collab with the amazing colourpop cosmetics to create a lipstick and lip liner, I knew I just had to get it.

Now let’s get to the review.

This “lippie stix” (cute name right?) comes in a white sleek packet that has the ingredients and all other serenre on it. I didn’t even look at the pack as I just wanted to see the lipstick itself.

So the tube itself is white and sleek as well. Looks like a pen of sorts. It has a cap that pops off. When the cap is taken off, one can see the shade of the lippie stix at the upper part of the tube. So you twist the bottom of the tube to get the product out. In my excitement, I twisted all the way to see how much product was in it. I won’t lie, I was disappointed at first because I felt like the product was quite small for the price.

But then I smelled the lippie stix! OMG! I can’t even explain it to you in words. I just knew like I could purchase just that scent for the price of the lippie stix. It is that good! Smells very much like a vanilla hot fudge banana split ice-cream cake! With a cherry topped on whipped cream that is bathed in chocolate sauce on top of it! it might not make sense to you but just imagine how wonderful the described dish will be and you will get the idea.

The lipstick can be described as a deep sultry berry colour that is matte and will look flawless on all skintones. The colour payoff is very good as well. It is easy to apply because the top is slanted to perfectly fit the lips.

Hey beauty lovers out there... so about them reviews I'm going to be doing on here i have something new for you all that I hope we will all fall in love with.

So we all love our high end makeup brands and their drugstore dupes and all of that which we are forever wanting to get our hands on like all the time but being a human that genuinely loves going to the market (I should definitely do a post about this though), I cannot help but take good notice of all the makeup products sold in our Nigerian markets. It is very true that a lot of these products are of very low quality and don't last and all that but I have had the chance to come across a select few that have actually impressed me to a good extent. Plus there are also our time old ones that are forever favourites right from our mothers time. So about this trend... I'm going to start doing reviews on what i choose to simply call Nigerian Market Makeup (NMM). Yasss boo amma be blogging about stuff I buy on the streets of Nigeria which are made by our able Abba brothers (mostly), alongside my other reviews. Now to launch this particular trend there are some stuff you would firstly need to note about NMM, and these include;

Haul: Lime Crime Velvetines!!!

This post is long overdue…like a couple of months old (forgive me).

There is a story behind my purchase of these lipsticks. I had this next door neighbor last school year, Pelumi, who is obsessed with makeup and fashion. So she came to my room one evening to collect some makeup tutorials from my laptop and I decided to scan through her laptop as well. I saw a lipstick tutorial that looked very intriguing and I decided to watch it (can’t remember the Youtuber sadly). It was a lip swatch of a matte red liquid lipstick. Before that, the holy grail red lippie to me was MAC Ruby Woo but when I saw this lipstick I got confused. What was this liquid magic? And I saw the name at the end; LimeCrime Velvetine in Red Velvet. As a shopaholic, I had never seen any Nigerian online store carry this brand so I didn’t even have hope of finding it anytime soon.

Natural hair chronicles

I started my natural hair journey almost three years ago. It’s a very funny story. So December 2012, I was spending the holidays with my aunt in Lagos and I went to the salon for the routine hair relaxing before fixing Christmas hair (don’t judge me, I still make Christmas hair). I forgot that I had washed my hair a few days prior to coming to relax my hair so as the lady at the salon started applying the crème relaxer to my hair and scalp (I don’t know why they always relax the scalp as well, it’s only my HAIR that needs these chemicals ma’am!), back to the point, I felt the usual heat start to spread across my head and I knew that things will not end well. Needless to say, by the time she was done applying it to my entire head, I was almost crying. I believe I did shed a few tears. And Olamide and Phyno’s Ghost mode was playing during this ordeal so for that reason I always associate that song with the pain I felt that day.

How did my makeup journey start?

Hmmn... so let's skip the part about how my mum and I had endless makeup spats during my pre-teen and teen years cause I'm sure a good number of us had those and get right into the part where I learned about the magic behind eyebrows and the like.

So upon all the makeup spats mentioned above, as at the beginning of my second year in university I had never ever touched any of my eyebrow hairs and I am pretty sure I wore only shadows and never lined my eyes not to talk of foundation and what in the name of beauty was concealer?????.
